This is East Hanover Mayor Joe Pannullo with a special public service announcement.

East Hanover Township has assessed the damage from last night’s storm, and we wish to update you with the latest most important information.

Currently the following roads are closed due to the Passaic and Whippany rivers beginning to overflow.

Eagle Rock Avenue will be closed heading to Roseland as the water has come over the top of Eagle Rock Avenue. River Road is closed from the Eagle Rock to Overlook Road. Troy Road is closed at both bridges and New Road in Parsippany is closed.

Keep in mind the Passaic River and Whippany Rivers have NOT crested yet. We anticipate these rivers will crest over the next 36 hours, and we anticipate more roads to close. If you live in a low-lying area near these rivers, please be mindful to move your cars to higher ground.

Fortunately, we do NOT have widespread power outages but if we find it necessary over the next few days, we will open the Recreation Center at Lurker Park in the event we need a cooling station or charging station. We will let you know if that is the case.
