2008 RECYCLING SCHEDULE

All residents must set-out recyclables THE NIGHT BEFORE the day of collection. COLLECTION WILL BEGIN AT 6:30AM.

All containers must have recycling decals, handles and should weight no more than 50lbs when full. In the event of inclement weather, for up-to-the minute information, please visit Morris County MUA web site to determine if curbside collection has been canceled. Please be aware that collection may begin on a particular day but, due to safety concerns, crews may not be able to complete the section because weather conditions may change. Call the Recycling Center before 10:00 am for missed collection.

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLABLES

Commingled Recyclables: Aluminum & Tin Cans,  Glass Bottles & Jars, Plastic Bottles Coded 1 & 2 only. No Ceramics, glassware or window glass. Metal lids are ok. Place in reusable container rinse Bottles & Jars. Remove & throw away caps. Curbside Pickup on the above dates or at the recycling center on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays. Use Recycling Label available at Town Hall or Recycling Center.

Newspaper, includes the glossy inserts. Include in mixed paper container Place in reusable container with Recycling Laberl. Curbside Pickup on the above dates or at the recycling center on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays.

All Other Mixed Paper: Includes Magazines, Junk Mail, Envelopes, Slick Paper & Books with hard cover removed, Phone Books. DO NOT include, Carbon Paper or Metal Attachments. Brown Paper Bags are ok. Place in a reusable container with Recycling Label. Curbside Pickup on the above dates or at the Recycling Center on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays.

Corrugated Cardboard used for shipping. Must be flattened and tied no larger than 3ft x 3ft. Curbside Pickup on the above dates or at the Recycling Center on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays.

Empty, dry and open paint cans (from both Latex and Oil based paints). No liquid may remain in the can. Steel lid may remain in the can. Steel lid must be removed. Empty & dry cans may be placed in commingled container. Curbside Pickup on the above dates or at the Recycling Center on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays.

Aerosol Cans must be empty. Plastic caps must be removed. If Aerosol containers malfunction and cannot be emptied, place in trash or if it contains hazardous materials, call Morris County Household Hazardous Waste (973) 829-8006. Empty Aerosol cans may be placed in commingled container. Curbside Pickup on the above dates or at the Recycling Center on Mondays,  Wednesdays & Saturdays.

Branches & Brush

 Branches & Brush must be no larger than 4 feet long, 5 inches in diameter and tied together. Branches & Brush may be put at the curb call the Department of Public Works for appointment (973) 428-3063 or bring to the Recycling Center on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays.

 

Grass

 Grass: Cut and leave it.

Grass Facts

  • Grass Clippings provide natural fertilizer for a growing lawn.
  • You probably will only have to mow one or two extra times a month to clip the top inch off your grass.
  • The time saved by not bagging can amount to 30-35% of total mowing time.
  • Grass clippings do NOT cause thatch, this problem is caused by the accumulation of dead roots and stems.
 Grass may be brought to the Recycling Center  on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays. Plastic bags must be removed.

Leaves

 Leaves may not be placed at the curb without being in brown, biodegradable bags. Leaves will be picked up at the curb from November 1 through December 15 only. The Recycling Center will open six days a week in November for residents to bring leaves. Leaf bags available at Recycling Center with coupon.

Household & Vehicle Batteries

 Batteries Batteries are accepted at the Recycling Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. No Curbside Pickup for batteries

Motor Oil

 Motor Oil put in clean container that you can empty in the Township Waste Oil Tank. Do not mix with any other substances. Motor Oil is accepted at the recycling center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. No curbside pickup for Motor Oil.

Tires

 Tires: Passenger car tires off the rim only. No truck tires will be accepted. Rims are acceptable as Scrap Metal. Passenger car tires are accepted at the recycling center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. No curbside pickup for tires.

Waste

 Household Hazardous Waste. The Morris County MUA Household Hazardous Waste Facility is open to residents for disposal of Household hazardous waste items by appointment only. Please call (973) 829-8006 for dates and additional information. Acceptable items:
  • Pesticides and Herbicides
  • Oil Based Paints, Stains and Varnishes.
  • Automotive Fluids
  • Batteries
  • Pool & Darkroom chemicals
  • Small quantities of Asbestos
  • Driveway Sealant
  • Roofing Tar
  • Propane Cylinders
  • Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Ballast's
Scrap Metal Metal: Filing Cabinets, Metal Doors, Windows, Iron bars, Tools, Lawn Mowers, Metal Patio Furniture, Boat Hitch, Aluminum Chairs, Pipes, Bicycles, Exercise Equipment, Rims without Tires, etc. Curbside pickup available, call the Recycling Center or bring to the recycling center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
White Goods Household Appliances: Stoves, Microwaves, Vents, Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, etc. Freon must be removed from appliances and certification attached. Refrigerator and Freezer doors must be removed. Curbside pickup available, call the recycling center for information.
Clothing & Fabrics Clothing & Fabrics Collection bin at Recycling Center. No Curbside pickup.
